NEW CHARM CHAIR 2026
Dr. Claire
Jeantils is network lead of the International Narrative Neurology Network and an Honorary Fellow at the Institute for Medical Humanities, Durham University. She holds a PhD in French and Comparative Literature from Sorbonne Nouvelle University. Her research focuses on translational medical humanities and critical approaches to narrative practices in medicine, using epilepsy and chronic illness as case studies.
Her work has developed through international and multilingual contexts, including fellowships in France, Switzerland, and the UK, and training in Narrative Medicine and Creative Writing in the US (Columbia University, Bread Loaf School of English). As a 2024 fellow at the Institut des Humanités en Médecine (Lausanne), she helped launch the journal Soin, Sens et Santé, the first bilingual (French-English) medical humanities publication, and now serves on its editorial board.
Claire leads the International Narrative Neurology Network, an interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral initiative bringing together more than 40 researchers and healthcare practitioners to explore the intersection of narrative and neurology at both theoretical and pragmatic levels. She is also co-creator and host of Raconter l’épilepsie, produced by the Institut la Personne en Médecine (Paris), the first French podcast making medical humanities approaches accessible to patients, carers, and clinicians.
